Embrace your fears

An audit finding. A missed deadline. A misplaced decimal point.

Now those are some frights that will really chill you to the bone. These nightmares haunt the bravest of financial aid professionals. If you work in financial aid, you know there's enough real-world scares to last you a lifetime.

Yet, despite these fears, many of you persevere, going to work every day to process financial aid. And maybe one of the reasons we are able to face our fears is because of Halloween itself.

According to this article in the Philadelphia Inquirer, "confronting things that scare you or make you uncomfortable can make you more adaptable and resilient."

Halloween is also a social experience. And, as the article states, there's some solidarity in sharing those scary experiences – something that financial aid professionals often do, helping and supporting one another when we can.

And it's through that support of each other, we all have the courage to face what frightens us.
