How to report 529 plans on the 2024-25 FAFSA

Beginning with the 2024-25 FAFSA, parents who are required to provide asset information on the FAFSA will only provide information about the 529 accounts designated for the student whose FAFSA they are completing.
In the past, parents had to report all 529 accounts they owned even if the account was designated for a different student.
Also, students who have already received funds from a 529 account to pay for college expenses will no longer be required to report it on the FAFSA as money or support paid on their behalf.
