Five reasons to look forward to the end of holiday break

After a long (and hopefully fun and relaxing) holiday break, it may be a little challenging to get back to school and work.

Nearly everyone, whether they’re a high school or college student or a working adult, naturally looks forward to a break. But – and just hear me out – there are reasons to be happy about the break ending.

  1. You need a routine. It was a joke on social media during the holiday break – being confused and not knowing what day it was during the holiday. It’s okay to be that way for a few days but any longer and it’s not a good state to be in for our physical and mental health. A routine helps us practice good habits and gives purpose to our lives.
  2. You have a lot to look forward to this spring. It’s not all drudgery. Sure, there may be some things you have to do that you won’t find exciting. But there’s some events and things to do that will be fun or may even surprise you.
  3. You have a mission to fulfill. If you are a student, you have courses to complete on your way to graduation which will enable to you to achieve career goals. If you’re working, you have a job to do and nearly every job – in one way or another – is there to serve other people.
  4. You need to grow. Every day is an opportunity for growth. For both students and working adults, every day offers a chance to learn something, meet new people, and gain new experiences. It’s what makes life fun and exciting.
  5. You’ll be that much closer to achieving your goals. Whether you’ve written them down or not, you probably have some goals. Whether it’s graduating high school or college, getting promoted, or improving your health, each day offers an opportunity to get closer to achieving that goal.

Also, it’s important to remember that the upcoming months won’t be a marathon of work and studies. It’s more like a sprint with breaks in between – giving you plenty of time to rest between working and studying so you can finish the spring semester or the next few months strong.
